Biography
Eugene R Kumpula
At 81 years old, Eugene Kumpula carries a lifetime of stories shaped by resilience, faith, and deep-rooted family values. Raised on a humble farm in northern Minnesota during the tail end of World War II, he grew up without electricity, his childhood illuminated by kerosene lamps, woodstove warmth, and the enduring spirit of hard work
His writing captures the texture of a bygone era, making do without modern conveniences, harvesting crops by hand, and enduring long, cold, snow-swept winters. These early experiences instilled in him a fierce practicality and a boundless imagination, both of which would serve him well as he embarked on a winding path in life.
Over the years, he wore many hats: design draftsman, salesman, school bus driver, bookkeeper, small business owner, pastor, and community volunteer. Each career was less about ambition than necessity, as he and his beloved wife of 59 years raised 15 children under one roof. His home was a place of noise, laughter, discipline, and love. A living testament to endurance and faith.
Now, in his later years, he reflects on a life richly lived through his memory, honest, funny, and full of the kind of wisdom that only time and trial can forge. With a storyteller’s gift and a heart full of gratitude, he writes not just to remember, but to remind that simple lives, rooted in love and sacrifice, are the ones most worth telling.

"At 81 years young, I have taken extraordinary joy in writing these tales to share with the next generation. Each book is filled with memories of simpler times, family adventures, and country life - with a dash of humor and life lessons woven in."
